There are difference explanations on the origin of "Yu Sheng" (魚生). The dish is categorized under Guangdong dish. Eating fresh
fish is not Guangdong dining culture during Chinese New Year celebration. On the other hand, it is believed that
"Yu Sheng" (魚生) actually originated from "seven vegetable soup". In the ancient day, Chinese use seven types of vegetable
to cook soup to celebrate the seventh day of spring festival. It marks the end of spring celebration and everybody
should start working hard after the celebration. |
